"Twenty Thirteens" is an instrumental piece.
To my mind, it conjures up renderings of numbers.
Like music, Mathematics is a language.
Music differs from pure mathematical thought however;
in a math equation, two plus two always equals four regardless of one's mood .
In music, the way one feels can make the sum greater than the whole.
This possibility, that two plus two
could equal something greater than four
is what makes music more than it's mathematics
...more than some quirk of an evolutionary artifact,
more than this.
“The difference between the poet
and
the mathematician
is that the poet tries to get his head
into the
heavens
while the mathematician
tries to get the heavens into his head.”
― G.K. Chesterton
